From September until November 2012 I live and work in an community art project in Poelenburg, Zaandam.
Among other activities in this project i make drawings of my observations in the neighborhood. The people’s behavior. Every day i will post a new drawing of my findings converted into a drawing. Some things a shocking for me can’t think why they do it like that. Don’t care about their surroundings, sometimes it is endearing and are they very welcoming. Strong social cohesion in a small circle. A neighborhood with a mixture of over 70 cultural backgrounds, many not speaking or writing the dutch language, some dropouts, other never had the chance to develop themselves. Some do break out the strong tight relationships and find their way out of the neighborhood or even start as a volunteer a local sport place where many young people find support and springboard for their future.
